In-Mold Labeling

The Cary Company offers in-mold labeling for various containers. In-mold labeling (IML) is a labeling process wherein a label is applied to a container during the manufacturing of the container, typically through blow molding or injection molding. The mold takes the shape of the container, which allows for greater decorating options than other labeling methods. In-mold labeling is more efficient than other labeling methods as it leads to less waste and creates a product that is both durable and easily recyclable/regrindable. To learn about IML, click here!

IML offers several advantages including:

  • Maximum print quality
  • Scratch resistance
  • Strong construction that resists humidity and temperature changes
  • Shorter production time as containers are produced and decorated in one step
  • Environmentally friendly (container and label are both recyclable)

Use in-mold labeling to create unique packaging that stands out in retail environments!

Understanding Food-Grade Plastic

When evaluating the safety of plastic containers, it's crucial to consider the type of plastic used. Food-grade plastics are specifically designed and manufactured to be safe for food contact. They are made from materials that meet strict regulatory standards and do not contain harmful chemicals that can leach into food.

Look for BPA-Free Containers

One common concern with plastic containers is the potential presence of bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that has been linked to health issues. However, many plastic butter tubs are now labeled as BPA-free. BPA-free containers are manufactured without this chemical, ensuring a safer option for food storage.

Check for FDA Approval

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sets regulations and guidelines for materials used in food packaging. Look for plastic butter tubs that have FDA approval or are labeled as food-grade containers. This certification ensures that the materials used in the tubs are suitable for food contact and meet safety standards.

Proper Usage and Care

Even with food-grade plastic butter tubs, it's essential to follow proper usage and care guidelines. Avoid exposing the tubs to extreme temperatures, such as placing them in the oven or freezer, as this can compromise the integrity of the plastic. Additionally, always wash the tubs thoroughly before each use to remove any potential contaminants.

When used properly and with attention to quality, plastic butter tubs can be a safe option for food storage. Look for food-grade plastics, preferably labeled as BPA-free and FDA-approved. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for usage and care, and consider alternative materials if you prefer to avoid plastic. Ultimately, the safety of plastic butter tubs for food storage depends on the quality of the materials used and proper handling practices.
