I am planning to replace all the skirting (and architrave) as I redecorate the house since the existing skirting is a small 75mm chamfered style from the 70s. While I am not considering plastic door architraves as they wouldn’t align with the painted parts, the idea of plastic skirting boards seems promising.
Initially, I thought about using MDF but noticed that numerous plastic products are available now, some of which can even hide cables. This could be particularly useful in areas where running new cables or going under the floor is challenging. I aim for a consistent look throughout the house and want to ensure I get this right, especially since I may need to purchase everything at once to ensure availability.
Has anyone used plastic skirting boards and can share how they compare in appearance to MDF or wooden skirting? Are there any issues to consider such as dealing with awkward angles and corners?

I hired a joiner to install additional skirting board to hide pipes, and he used white PVC instead of wood. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good. Already having had disagreements with him on other matters, I decided to let it go. Nevertheless, I plan to replace it when I eventually renovate that room.
I definitely wouldn’t choose it on purpose!
