The wire is very soft and even the plastic coat is quite pliable. The copper is easily tinned for soldering. As far as sound, that is a silly quality parameter. Either the wire is heavy enough to handle your needs or it isn't. If you are making a run with 18 gauge @10' or less with 25-40 watts with 8 or 16 ohm load it is OK. If you are running higher power at lower impedance or making longer runs move up to 16 or 14 gauge wire. The longer the run, or the lower the impedance will require different gauge wire. This matters most with bass response.
