To choose contact lenses, go with soft lenses over rigid lenses if you want something comfortable that doesn't require a lot of maintenance. However, keep in mind that soft lenses won't correct your vision as well as rigid lenses. If you want to have sharper vision, or if you're getting contacts because of astigmatism, rigid lenses may be a good choice. For soft lenses, go with daily disposable lenses if you don't want to worry about maintaining them, or go with monthly disposable lenses if you want to save money. Following the success of the first rehousing version (MKI), we have released an updated MKII version with many improvements to make the lenses more comfortable and reliable in the most demanding working conditions. With the MKII we have added an innovative Helicam focusing system, universal focus followers, an adjustable stainless steel PL mount, precision T-stop markings and reverse focus scales. These improvements make our lenses not only more comfortable to use, but also more accurate, meeting the high demands of professional operators.
Introduced between and , Zeiss Standard Speed lenses were developed for use with Arriflex movie cameras and quickly gained popularity for their outstanding performance and reliability. These T2.1 fixed aperture lenses offer excellent aperture performance and focal lengths ranging from 10mm to 180mm, making them versatile for a variety of shooting types.
These lenses are renowned for their natural color reproduction, high sharpness, and minimal optical distortion, making them ideal for capturing a variety of scenes. Smooth and soft bokeh gives shots a cinematic look, highlighting key subjects.

With the Carl Zeiss Jena lenses, we are committed to maintaining the legendary qualities that have made these optics timeless while introducing modern advancements that align with the demands of today’s film industry. Our meticulous attention to detail ensures that these rehoused lenses meet the high expectations set by our MKII series and, thanks to the industry standard CAM focus system, even exceed them.
Our Carl Zeiss Jena rehousing project starts with 12 MC series focal lengths and will be followed by the Zebra & Silver series at a later stage.
Pricing Info: The rehousing price for the Carl Zeiss Jena Rehousing $ per lens with the customer’s donor optics; we can also source the actual optics for an additional cost. Please choose the option Rehousing + Donor Optics for an instant quote.
Donor Optics: We always aim to source the best donor optics possible, but these are 50+-year-old vintage lenses, so they will often have minor imperfections, such as light coating marks or scratches on the glass surface. We test these lenses to ensure such imperfections do not affect the performance in any way. Any lenses that do not meet our strict testing criteria also do not qualify for rehousing, so you can rest assured that we take the best care when choosing the optics for you.
Important: Our lenses are made in batches, and the estimated delivery time for the next batch is 12 months, but this constantly changes based on the order queue. The standard deposit is 25% deposit with attractive discounts on higher deposits. Please contact us if you’d like to learn more about this.
Soviet Lenses: Introduced as far back as s, most of these lenses were based on Carl Zeiss optical formulas, which gave them a solid optical performance combined with unique image characteristics, such as dreamy flares, swirly bokeh, and overall painterly texture that can only be produced in-camera! These lenses are surprisingly sharp in the middle of the frame and have a gentle focus fall-off at the edges. They deliver excellent contrast and vibrant colours in controlled lighting conditions, but when you allow them to flare, they truly come alive, and their character shines through!

MKII Rehousing: Following the success of our original (MKI) rehousing, we’ve released the MKII version with further improvements to make it suitable for the most demanding working environments. The MKII features a brand-new “Helicam” internal focus system, universal follow-focus gear positions, shimmable PL stainless steel mount, precise T-stop markings, reverse focus scales and many other improvements.
Lens Selection: The set consists of 7 lenses, and optics are included in the price. If you prefer a reduced lens selection or want to provide you own donor optics, please contact us for a custom quote tailored to your needs.
Optical Modifications: If you want to enhance the look of these lenses, we can add optical modifications such as “Amber” internal colouring to give images a warmer look and/or “Oval Bokeh” inserts to recreate the anamorphic bokeh look. Please add a note to your order if you want this added to your lenses.

Film Camera Compatibility: if you plan to use these lenses with 35mm film cameras, such as Aanton 235/535, Arri 235/435/535, etc., you will need a replacement iris ring to get enough clearance above the mirror chamber. We can provide these replacement rings free of charge or install them when assembling your order, so please let us know if you need them once your order has been made.

MKII Rehousing: Following the success of our original (MKI) rehousing, we’ve released the MKII version with further improvements to make it suitable for the most demanding working environments. The MKII features a brand-new “Helicam” internal focus system, universal follow-focus gear positions, swappable PL / LPL / EF mounts, precise T-stop markings, reverse focus scales and many other improvements.
MKII has many improvements and high-end usability features, such as:
Terms and Conditions: Your MKI lenses can have cosmetical or mechanical signs of use. The optics from your MKI lenses will go to your MKII lenses, so please ensure they are still in good condition before sending them. This upgrade also allows you to change the spec of your existing rehousing to anything you like on MKII, such as mount, optical modifications, markings, etc. You will need to ship the lenses to us at your own expense, but we will pay for the MKII shipping back to you.
