If there's one thing you don't want when gluing, it's visible marks. In order to glue large areas, you should use spray adhesive. Why? Spray adhesive does not cause unsightly curling and is suitable for many different materials and applications. Whether you want something to be removable and repositionable or permanent and extra strong, in our online shop you are guaranteed to find the right spray adhesive for your individual application.

What is spray adhesive?

Spray adhesive doesn't come out of a stick or cartridge, isn't brushed on, and doesn't liquefy. It is applied using a pressurized container, which spreads the adhesive spray thinly over the surfaces to be bonded. This makes it ideal for use on large surfaces. You can apply the adhesive quickly and evenly to several square centimeters or even square meters.

Spray adhesive is suitable for use on:

  • Material
  • Paper
  • Textile
  • Styrofoam
  • Felt
  • Leatherette
  • Wood
  • PVC
  • Foam
  • Metal
  • Slides

Additionally, spray adhesive is available with different adhesive strengths and for a wide variety of materials. It can be purchased both removable and as a permanent adhesive. You can remove removable spray adhesive even days later to reposition and re-glue elements. The permanent variant of the spray adhesive, on the other hand, is extra strong, holds securely, and cannot be removed or repositioned after application.

The advantages of spray adhesive

The practical aspect of adhesive spray is not only that it is suitable for gluing large areas but also that it is transparent after application. Especially when repairing objects, you don't want the adhesive to be too noticeable. You also want to avoid soft material waving due to the adhesive used. Spray adhesive prevents this because it can be applied thinly and evenly using the can. Spray adhesive can also be heat and moisture resistant—an essential property in some applications. Waterproof spray adhesive is particularly suitable for outdoor areas.

In our range, you can find both removable spray adhesives (when applied on one side) and extra strong spray adhesives for permanent bonding on uneven and rough surfaces.

For which purposes is spray adhesive suitable?

Spray glue is great for crafting and decorating because it works with many popular craft supplies, including cardboard, paper, and felt. It also bonds well with other materials, but you should use it with relatively light materials. For example, it works well with paper but is less suitable for holding heavy steel plates. Special industrial adhesive is required for heavier materials. It can also be used profitably when dealing with textiles or clothing. For example, you can use spray adhesive to glue fabric and patch tears with the appropriate textile spray adhesive. Since it is ideal for large areas, it is also suitable for upholstery and repairs in the car, such as covering the roof liner or trunk with artificial leather using spray adhesive. Even real leather can be processed with spray adhesive. Additionally, in model making, it can be of great service to hobbyists, for example, by covering large areas with grass.

Tip: It can also be practical to use removable spray adhesive to separate objects from one another later and use them elsewhere.

How do you use spray adhesive?

It is best to use spray adhesive in a well-ventilated area with a large work surface and cover it with paper or foil. When spraying, keep a distance of 20 to 30 centimeters between the can and the surface to be glued. Remove grease and dust from the surfaces beforehand and ensure they are dry. After spraying, let the adhesive flash off for a few minutes (observe the manufacturer's instructions) before connecting the two elements. Press the adhesive surfaces together and allow the adhesive to harden for several hours. You can remove residues of spray adhesive with lighter fluid or white spirit.

Can you use spray adhesive with magnets?

In principle, there is nothing wrong with attaching smaller and lighter magnets to surfaces with spray adhesive. However, special magnetic adhesive is ideal as it is specifically designed for the use of magnetic surfaces.

What is Multipurpose Spray Adhesive Used for?

What is the meaning of "multipurpose"? There may be two reasons. One reason is that they can bond many materials, including light materials like fabric and hard materials like plastic. They can bond normal materials such as paper and other composite applications, and you will find that they bond well to most of the materials we use in our daily lives. Typical applications include but are not limited to:

  • general assembly
  • temporary holding
  • palletizing
  • label attachment

The second reason is that they provide temporary and permanent bonding. The Sprayidea multipurpose spray adhesive can remain tacky for a long time, about 60 minutes. During this time, you can change the materials' positions many times until perfect. This tacky time will vary between brands. For example, Gorilla Glue may only last for 10 minutes. These are also two clear advantages of multipurpose spray glue.
